Firma Biofol Film GmbH The company started out in 1997 as a medium-sized business with its production base in the new federal states. It operated under the name AFG Agrofol GmbH from 2004 as a wholly owned subsidiary of WKI Kunststoffe GmbH, a member of the WKI Group, Berlin. Following a merger with the associated company, the enterprise now known as Biofol Film GmbH has been operating on this site since 2009. The members of the WKI Group include companies from different specialisations in the plastics industry, such as WKI Isoliertechnik GmbH, whose production sites manufacture polystyrene insulating materials, WKI Kunststoffe GmbH Berlin, a prominent plastics trading company, and WKI Tegafol, whose modern facilities produce polypropylene yarns for the packaging and agricultural sectors. The Unseburg plant has invested in ultra-modern, efficient manufacturing facilities for the key markets of agriculture, horticulture, packaging and construction, with a total capacity of 24,000 t per annum. Operations run smoothly on a site covering more than 40,000 m2, which still has sufficient spare capacity for any future expansion. With environmental considerations in mind, the closed loop recycling of selected production waste has been made possible with the installation of a recycling unit with a capacity of 2,500 t per annum.
